The craft beer scene is booming all over the world and San Luis Potosí is no exception.

San Luis Potosí has a bunch of craft beers like Malamen, 7B, Wasumara, Cerveza Virreinal etc, you can find them in some restaurants, food truck parks and local markets. My personal favorite local brews though are from La legendaria.

La Legendaria is a microbrewery and restaurant located in Sierra Leona. The restaurant features a restaurant and bar area, terrace, beer garden, and an outdoor playground (yes, it is a kids friendly brewery). The actual brewery can be seen behind the restaurant’s bar, guided visits are available with prior reservation.

La legendaria is an all in one stop.  On a sunny weekend is a kids friendly place perfect to grab lunch with the family – late Lunch, that is – potosinos eat lunch *Very* late on weekends. During the week is a perfect place for lunch, dinner or drinks and of course on weekend nights the perfect spot for drinks with friends.

Their menu has changed quite a few times in the past couple of years. They offer a variety of appetizers and your typical pub entrees like Pizza, Burgers, Sandwiches and tacos. They serve decent steaks too and a few Mexican specialties.

Spicymeter: Nothing is too spicy here as long as you stay away from the salsas and the patatas bravas.

I definitely recommend trying their burgers, tasty patties and crunchy bacon on their home made beer buns.

The most interesting part of their menu is of course, the beer. They brew 6 different kinds of beers: Lagers, IPAs and, my favorite, Segundo Imperio, a Porter. They also have seasonal brews, special editions and even collaborations with other breweries.

Overall what I like the most about la legendaria is their beer garden, its big enough that it never gets too crowded, and it features a nice enjoyable view. Service is always great.

Bring the kids, they will have tons of fun in the playground playing, running or riding ponys on weekends. Not your thing? Go in at night and enjoy a sampler of their beer while you enjoy the live music.

The Mexican weather makes it possible to enjoy a beer outside under the sun pretty much all year long, and there’s no better place for that in SLP than la Legendaria.

I’ve pretty much established residency in la Legendaria, so if you see me there chasing around my toddlers, beer in hand, come and say hi.
